BROOKLYN, NY : Free oral health screenings, nutrition counseling, dental health education and oral care products will be available on Friday, October 6 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to children ages 5-12 during "Children's Dental Health Day" being sponsored by the Dental Hygiene Department of New York City College of Technology, City University of New York in Brooklyn and the Oral Health Committee of the Second District Dental Society.
The first 70 children registered are eligible for a free dental cleaning, fluoride treatment and dental sealant application on appropriate teeth. In addition, children can take part in the Masons Child Safety and Identification Program (CHIP), an effort to aid in the safe recovery of a lost or missing child in association with local law enforcement agencies. The voluntary program is free provides materials to parents as a ready resource in case a child turns up missing or kidnapped. Parents and guardians are required to sign a permission form authorizing the CHIP team to take videotape, fingerprints and toothprints of children. All materials and documents are given to parents and no personal information is retained by the college or any participating agencies.
Dental services will be offered on a first come, first served basis and all participants must arrive at the Dental Hygiene Clinic, Pearl-201, New York City College of Technology, 300 Jay Street, Brooklyn at 9 a.m. The college can be reached by the #2, 3, 4, 5, A,C, F, M, N or R trains; and the B26, B37, B38, B41, B51, B52, B54, B61, B67 or B75 bus routes.
